Hello friends,

I’ve not written a blog in a while. Winter has been a season of hibernation for me — both physically and spiritually. Spending time daily in the woods helps me slow down, refocus, and reconnect with what truly matters.

There are moments in the forest when the rain begins to fall and you find shelter beneath the trees. In those quiet pauses you realise something simple: life, at its purest, is uncomplicated — perfectly imperfect. Just like we are.

A Winter of Study and Mushroom Research

This winter I’ve been studying hard on this Psychedelics and psychology course, so I haven’t been able to forage as much as usual. I’ve spent quite a bit of time in Cornwall, where there are sadly far fewer woodlands than I’m used to. Because of that, we’ve started a small tree-planting programme to give something back to the land.

Alongside this, I’ve been researching medicinal mushrooms and their traditional uses in different cultures as part of my anthropology studies.

One area I’ve been particularly fascinated by is the cultural history of Amanita muscaria and its role in folklore and traditional practices. It’s a complex and intriguing mushroom, and I’m looking forward to exploring it further this year.

New Medicinal Mushroom Blends

During the quieter winter months I’ve also been experimenting with some new mushroom blends.

One of the newest is AM Boost, inspired by my Jedi Mind blend but with additional ingredients including Shilajit, saffron, liquorice and cinnamon. This blend is designed to support energy, focus and mental clarity in the morning.

I’ve also created a dual-extracted glycerine mushroom tincture combining Lion’s Mane, Reishi, liquorice and cinnamon. Because it’s alcohol-free, this version is suitable for children or anyone who prefers to avoid alcohol tinctures.

Lion’s Mane is well known for supporting cognitive health and focus, while Reishi has a long

history of use for supporting balance and wellbeing.

Mushrooms, Nature and Wellbeing

Spending time in nature reminds me that health and wellbeing don’t come from just one place. Mushrooms, plants, forests and quiet moments outdoors all have something to teach us.

Whether it’s mushroom foraging, medicinal mushroom blends, or simply taking a mindful walk in the woods, these practices help reconnect us with the rhythms of the natural world.

Let’s Talk Mushrooms

If you’re interested in medicinal mushrooms, mushroom tinctures, or natural approaches to health and wellbeing, I’m always happy to chat, keep an eye on my page and come visit me at a market. The next definite one is May 30th in Glastonbury by the cross.

Over the years I’ve gathered many tools, experiences and insights through working with mushrooms and spending time in nature — and I love sharing what I’ve learned.

Until next time,

The Mushroom Lady
